Car Wash Fundraiser—TODAY, 8:30-11:30 a.m., let the youth wash your car while you worship! Funds raised will go toward costs to attend the ELCA Youth Gathering in 2018.

Quilting Blocks in Stages—Tues., Aug. 29, 6:30 p.m. Join the group to work on mission quilts that are donated to places such as Habitat for Humanity, NACE Food Shelf, Alexandra House, and more.
Random Tuesday Weeding—Get your fingers dirty any Tuesday, May-Sept., helping with garden weeding. Plan to join the team for an hour of weeding, starting around 6 p.m., weather permitting. Many hands make light work!

KIDShine Sunday School/Connect
A city on a hill cannot be hidden! Shine on!
Classes start Sept 10! Our Saviour’s Sunday school/Connect is for children, age 3-grade 5. We meet during the school year at two different sessions. Session 1 and Session 2 both start with your child in worship with you. Kids will be dismissed from worship for Session 1 after communion; for Session 2, kids will be dismissed after the Children’s Sermon.

Welcome to Sunday School Child/Parent Night—Mon., Aug 28, 6:00-7:15 p.m. Got a 3 or 4-year-old new to Sunday school? Students and parents are invited to this special night to familiarize themselves with our Sunday school program. At this event your family will meet the teachers, experience a Sunday lesson plan, explore your classrooms and church, and enjoy a yummy treat!
Your Partners—Our Saviour’s Sunday School/Connect is a congregational effort! With each baptism we promise to help parents raise their children in the faith. How can you live out that promise? Help! ELCA Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas—June 25-July 2, 2018 (tentative), for youth currently entering grades 8-12. Travel with this group via coach bus with other area churches. At the Gathering we will join 36,000 other high school youth from across the country for five days of service, worship, learning, and fellowship! This event only happens every three years! It will be a fantastic trip and you WON’T want to miss it. Get details at www.elca.org/gathering. Approximate cost will be $1,300 - 1,500 (we have already started fundraising, so don't delay in registering!) Deadline to sign up is Sept. 15, 2017. High School Youth Ministry—Sundays, 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Kick off with a fellowship lunch on Sept. 17.
Confirmation Guide Training—Wed., Sept. 6, 6:30-8:00 p.m. All new and returning leaders must attend this mandatory training at which you will receive your first set of curriculum lessons.

Happening in September
Red Cross Blood Drive—Tues., Sept. 12, 1:00-7:00 p.m. at Our Saviour’s. The American Red Cross is the nation’s largest blood collection organization, supplying more than 40 percent of the blood and blood products used in our country. The need is constant; the gratification is instant. Give blood. TM
Seasoned Adult Ministry (SAM)—All SAM events are open to seniors, members, and friends. Come one time or every time. Try out this fun group! SAM Potluck—Thurs., Sept. 14, 12:00 p.m. at the home of Pastor Dan. Sign up on the Small Group board in the Rotunda.
Quilting Class—The mission quilters of Our Saviour's will be hosting a beginner class this fall. If you are 12 years old or older, you’re
welcome to help the group make quilts. The group meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month from 6:30 to 8:00 in the front hallway. All supplies will be provided. Ignite Worship Returns September 20, at 6:30 p.m.—What is it? A worship service specifically designed for teens: interactive, meaningful, and impacting your daily life. New this year—we want YOU to help lead it! Whether it’s leading the interactive activity for the week, singing or playing in the band, being in a skit, serving Communion, or something else— we want to see YOU up front! Talk to Glenndy, Pastor Maria, Pastor Dan, or IGNITE! Band Leader Cathy Yseth to let us know you’re in.
Seasoned Adult Ministry (SAM) Tour of Star Tribune and St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church—Fri., Sept. 29, 7:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The group will travel by bus and have lunch at Christo’s Greek Restaurant. The cost is $8 for bus plus lunch. Watch for signup on the Small Group board in the Rotunda.
Fall Family Fun Fest - Sun., Sept. 10 Enjoy a great meal served by the Guatemala Mission team, as well as fun, family games, and more: pool with two hamster balls, hopper balls, slot cars, water balloons, face painting, treat walk, wacky hair, tie dye t-shirts, s’mores at the fire pit, and—as always—a special challenge for the pastors on front sidewalk at 11:30 a.m.
Soul Drive: a drive for shoes for school-age kids. Bring your gently used or new shoes/boots for kids of all ages.
You can help: donate store-bought treats for the treat walk. Please sign up on the Kiosk in the Rotunda and bring your treats in by 10 a.m. on Sept. 10.

Join a Choir
Celebration Choir for Grade 9-Adult—Join this group for rehearsals on Tuesdays, 7:15-8:30 p.m., beginning September 5. All voice parts are welcome!
Angelic Voices Choir for K-5th Grade—Kids, join the singing on Wednesdays, 6:00-6:30 p.m. Rehearsals begin September 20. Angelic Voices sing about once-a-month during Sunday worship.
Jubilate Handbell Choir for Grades 3-12—Join this great group of bell ringers on Wednesdays, 4:15-5:00 p.m. Rehearsals begin September 20. No experience is necessary.
Carillon Handbell Choir—Rehearsals are most Sundays, 6:00–7:15 p.m., beginning September 17. This is an experienced group of intergenerational ringers. Participation is by invitation.
Support Alexandra House—consider donating your out-dated cell phones (any brand, style, and condition) for the Alexandra House. A collection box is available in the Rotunda.
Aluminum Can Youth Fundraiser—Consider donating your aluminum cans to the youth program. They can be dropped off in the pop can trailer located in the parking lot, near the driveway. Please no tin cans or bags. Empty the cans in the trailer and dispose of your bags in the garbage can attached to the trailer. Funds raised will go toward high school summer trips. Thanks for your support.
Jesus Refills Picnic for the Homeless - Thurs., Aug. 31, 1:00 p.m. Jesus ReFills will be hosting a picnic on the streets. You can help by donating: desserts, pop, water, and/or snack size chips. Please drop your donations at the Jesus Refills donation box in the coat hallway at OSLC by Wed., Aug. 30. Sign up at the hospitality table or call Karen Bermel at 763-434-2554. Also, please consider volunteering to serve on Thurs., August 31, 1:00-2:30 p.m. There will be a couple of cars going and can ride share. Hospitality proceeds will be used to buy hamburgers, buns, salads & paper products.
The 2017 MN Renaissance Festival adult admission tickets are available at the Reception Desk at a reduced rate: $18.95 ($23.95 value); food books available for $5 (value $6). The festival is open weekends Aug. 19 through Oct. 1, plus Labor Day, and Festival Friday, Sept. 29.

Nursery is provided at the 10:00 a.m. service for children 3 and under, though it is strongly encouraged that children and their parents worship together. The nursery is staffed by caring adults and youth.
