Old Testament Bible Study
First and Third Mondays, 9:30-11:30 a.m., beginning Sept. 17
This fall, the Monday Bible study will continue with the stories of the descendants of Abraham. More details will be in the August Happenings. We'll begin with Genesis 32 and 33. These are fascinating stories about complicated characters, and we'll have fun exploring their lives!
Dialogues On . . . The Refugee Crisis
Wed., Oct. 3, 5:30 p.m., beginning October 3 and going through November.
This is the topic for fall Wednesday night adult education. We'll be engaging conversation about who refugees are, what the difference is between refugees and immigrants, how we feel about people who desperately want to come to our country, what services/benefits they receive, and, above all, what does God ask of us.
On the nights there is Wednesday evening programming (10/3, 10/10, 10/24, 11/7, 11/14, and 11/28) we'll meet at 5:30 and end by 6:30. We'll have a great learning experience. Dialogues On . . . is a new curriculum from ELCA publishers, and is designed to both help us learn about the topic AND learn strategies for talking about areas of disagreement. This adult ed experience will be a powerful learning opportunity and all are invited and urged to attend! Topics include: The Story We Live In; A People without a Place; A Global Perspective; A Network of Care; Facing Our History; and Looking for Home.
