Little Dresses for Africa—Thurs., March 28,
9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., at Our Saviour’s. Join this partnership group to sew for mission. A schedule is available at the Small Group board in the Rotunda. Bring your sewing machine, a pair of scissors, and a bag lunch. Questions? Contact Betty Gabrick, 651-462-1573.

Preschool Registration—OSLC Preschool Registration has begun for the 2019-20 school year. Our Saviour’s 4-Star Christian Preschool program offers children a quality Christian education in a secure, nurturing environment. Brochures and registration forms are available by the Children/Youth board or at oursaviourslc.org.

Global Health Ministries (GHM) Confirmation Hosted Service—Tues., April 2, 6:30-8:00 p.m. This family service night is open to the congregation! GHM is a volunteer-powered organization partnering with Lutheran efforts globally to enhance and sustain the health and well-being of the communities served. GHM welcomes youth groups to sort and pack donated medical supplies or help with quality control checks. Early registration for confirmation students and guides is Feb 20-March 9; open to the congregation March 10-27. Meet and pickup at Global Health Ministries: 7831 Hickory Street NE, Fridley 55432. ALL volunteers MUST have a waiver filled out to participate. Waivers can be found at the Children/Youth board or online at oursaviourslc.org/forms. Confirmation/Youth Ministry Silent Auction—Sunday, April 7, 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Would you consider donating a themed basket, item, service, or Easter Basket to the Confirmation & Youth Silent Auction? Please drop off donations between now and Sunday, March 31, at the Reception Desk, along with the approximate value, your name, and contact information. Join us in the Gathering Space on Sunday, April 7, 8:30-11:30 a.m., for the silent auction. All proceeds will go to Confirmation and Youth Ministries.

30 Hour Famine—Fri., April 26, 6:00 p.m., through Sat., April 27, 7:00 p.m., for grades 6 and up (must be 12+ by the day of the event). Every year, hundreds of thousands of students in the U.S. — and thousands more around the world — unite through World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine to feed hungry children and families. We will learn about life in Africa as we take part in “Trek Challenges: Africa.”  We will play games, worship, take part in service projects and so much more!  We will stay the night at church and at the end of our time together, we will share a fabulous meal! Deadline to sign up is April 14. Cost is $20.

Communion Instruction Class—Sat., April 6, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. This class is open to any age. Parents/guardians, please plan to attend the class with your child. Communion will be celebrated on Maundy Thurs., April 18, at 6:30 p.m. Register online at oursaviourslc.org/forms.

The Passion of the Christ Viewing—Sat., April 13, 6:00-9:00 p.m., for 6th grade and up. Join other youth and families in the Worship Space as we begin Holy Week with a viewing of The Passion of the Christ.  Leisha Tays will lead discussion and learning. Feel free to bring blankets and pillows—you can even wear pajamas, if you’d like. Youth under age 18 MUST have a The Passion of the Christ permission slip turned in (found on the Children/Youth board). Youth under age 14 MUST have a parent/guardian attend with them. This film is rated R for graphic violence – scenes of beating and the crucifixion of Christ.  Search The Passion of the Christ on imdb.com for more information on the movie.

Vacation Bible School: Roar! God Is Good—June 17-20,  9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., for age 4 through grade 5 completed. Cost due with registration:  $35 per child, max household cost $80. This African adventure is packed with incredible Bible-learning experiences kids see, hear, touch, and even taste! Online registration has begun. Space is limited; sign up early!

Wednesday Lenten Dramas: They Were There. This year, you’re invited to sit in on the “broadcast” of the fictional public radio show Talking About, where vivid characters from the last days of Jesus’ life are interviewed. Judas, Barabbas, Pilate, Pilate’s Wife, and Peter are asked about their lives, what led them to the tragic event of Jesus’ death, and what they would say to us in the 21st century. Dramas will be presented at both Wednesday services.

Community Meal—join your church family for a meal 4:30-6:25 p.m. All are welcome! The cost is $4 per person. Menu:

  • March 27 chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, and salad
  • April 3 chili, bread, and salad
  • April 10 chow mein, rice, and salad

Sunday Lent Preaching Series: Digging Into Worship – Why do we do what we do in worship? You’ve asked that at some point, haven’t you? It’s okay – we know! As we move through the season of Lent this year, focusing on returning to God, we’ll dig into worship as well and return to the “why” of these pieces of worship.

Easter Breakfast—Sun., April 21, 7:30-10:45 a.m. All are invited for breakfast Easter morning. Menu: pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links, fruit, juice, coffee. Suggested donation: $6.00/person; family special—$20 family 4-pack, $30 family 6-pack. Our youth are proud to provide Easter breakfast. Proceeds will help send these youth to Lake Traverse Reservation in Sisseton, SD, for a 2019 Mission Trip.

Retirement Celebration—Sunday, April 28. You are invited to come and express your words of gratitude and God’s blessings upon Cindy Delmonico as she retires. To say that we are going to miss Cindy is an understatement. But on April 28 we will be praying God’s blessings on this precious servant as she enters a new chapter in her life. Thanks be to God for Cindy Delmonico!!

Take Note

Endowment Scholarships—Our Saviour’s Endowment Committee will be awarding five $500 scholarships in June. The scholarships are for pursuing an undergraduate degree or for education to grow in Christian faith. Applications are available at the Reception Desk. Completed application forms MUST be returned to the Endowment Committee mailbox by Sunday, May 19.

Our Saviour’s Apparel Sale—The Emergency Response Team (ERT) is hosting a church apparel fundraiser to raise funds to update our security system and cameras. There are a number of affordable styles of sport shirts, jackets and vests to choose from all embroidered with the church name and logo. Plan on purchasing your spring outdoor wear from church and support our EMT. This fundraiser ends on Sunday, April 14. Thanks to Ideal Printing for sponsoring this fundraiser. Clothing samples are available at the Reception Desk.

Parking Considerations—Our Saviour’s has a special parking lot to the south of the church which is designated for folks with mobility issues. Please consider these folks when you are choosing a parking spot. Thanks for being considerate!

The Music Department is in need of some financial help with Easter Brass and updated equipment. Please check out the Music board in the Rotunda to find ways available for you to assist. Take a “note”, write a check, and attach the two together. We appreciate your generosity!

March FoodShare—This March we are joining with other faith communities, as well as food shelves, businesses and organizations across Minnesota in the movement to end hunger. You are invited to bring nonperishable food items (place in NACE collection bin in the coat hallway) or monetary donations (labeled NACE and placed in the offering basket) to church during the month of March. Together we can strive to END HUNGER.

Worship is central to who we are at Our Saviour’s all ages are welcome. To help you with kids in worship, there are busy bags across from the Worship Space along with gluten and gluten-free snacks. Feel free to grab one on your way in to worship. Children’s bulletins are available from the ushers. A staffed nursery is available for children ages infant through 3 on Sundays during the 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. services.

EASTER DRESS SALE:  This is your opportunity to buy your daughter/granddaughter’s Easter dress for only $10.00  The sale will take place after each service on Sunday, March 31st.  Proceeds will go toward the purchase of supplies and postage for shipping Little Dresses for Africa.   Thank you for your support.

Easter Garden and Gift Form—On Easter Sun. our chancel will be graced with beautiful Easter plants. If you would like to donate a plant or make a donation in honor or in memory of a loved one, please complete an order form and return it to the church office no later than  Sun., March 25. The cost is $15.50 per plant. Forms are available at the Reception Desk or online at oursaviourslc.org.

Cookies for the Troops—Military Care is proposing to send 100 boxes of cookies to the troops overseas. If you would like to help, cookies will be available in the Rotunda to purchase on March 24 and 31. Or you could make a donation and label it “cookies for the Troops. The Military Care team will be packing the cookies on Sun., April 7, at 11:15 a.m. You are welcome to join them!

Send a Card—You are invited to send cards to our homebound members. Stop at the Reception Desk for a list of names and addresses. Thanks for thinking of our friends who are homebound or in rehabilitation!

Garden Team Plant Sale—March 24 –April 21.  There will be annual bedding plants in half or whole flats, 4 ½  inch potted annuals, 12 inch patio pots, and hanging baskets available for to order.  Order forms will be at the Reception Desk during office hours, and at a table in the Rotunda during Wednesday and Sunday services. A garden representative will be at the table to assist with orders.  Plant pick-up will be Saturday, May 11, 9:00–11:00 a.m.  Payment will be due at the time of plant pick-up, so no need to prepay for your order. Any extra plants or baskets will be sold on Sunday, May 12, 8:30– 11:30 a.m.

Break the Chain of Hunger –30 Hour Famine youth stapled together a paper chain 8,000 links in length, representing the 16,000 children who die each day from hunger-related causes. The chain has been hung around Our Saviour’s. Visit these youth at their Break the Chain of Hunger table on Wednesdays and Sundays through April 26and drop a monetary donation in their basket. For every 50¢ collected, a link will be torn down. $40 can feed and care for a child for an entire month. $240 provides six months, $480 provides one year, $960 provides 2 years and $1,500 provides food and care for a child for three years! You are invited to help these youth Break the Chain of Hunger.

From the Blood Drive – Thanks you to all who came out to donate blood on March 19! We collected 2 pints over the Red Cross goal, so we hit 67 pints, which means you helped to save up to 201 lives! Nursery is provided at the 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. services for children 3 and under, though it is strongly encouraged that children and their parents worship together. The nursery is staffed by caring adults and youth.
