Pub Theology—Monday, July 15, 6:00 p.m., at Hidden Haven. This discussion is for Christians of any stripe: people who’ve been burned or burned out on church, those who believe in God, or don’t. Come and have a beer/beverage of choice and join in the lively discussion.

Preschool

Preschool Registration—OSLC Preschool Registration has begun for the 2019-20 school year. Our Saviour’s 4-Star Christian Preschool program offers children a quality Christian education in a secure, nurturing environment. Brochures and registration forms are available by the Children/Youth board or at oursaviourslc.org.

Preschool Summer Camp—August 12-15, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., for age 3-5. Join Our Saviour’s Preschool as we dive into the world of Pete the Cat! Each day will be filled with stories, art activities, and games based on a different book by James Dean. Cost is  $55. Registration form is available online at oursaviourslc.org/forms.


Children/Youth/Family

Summer Movie: Sing—Wed., July 17, 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., for 5th grade (completed) through college age. Meet at Our Saviour’s at 9:00 a.m. and enjoy a donut before we walk to East Bethel’s Emagine Theater (about 1 mile). We’ll return to church for pizza and hang out time in the Youth Room. Offsite Permission Form required. Cost is $5 and includes: donut, movie, a slice of pizza, and a can of soda. Note: We will start walking to the theater at 9:30 a.m. No drop offs after 9:30. July 24The Grinch; August 14An American Tail.

The Next StoryWalk Book—September 8-22. During these two weeks, a children’s book will be displayed throughout the Meditation Garden: Halfway Wild by Laura Freudig and illustrated by Kevin M. Barry. Feel free to walk the garden path, read the book, and enjoy the great outdoors. This is a fiction book, similar to Where the Wild Things Are

Welcome to Sunday School Child Parent Night—Tues., Aug. 27, 6:00-7:15 p.m. This is a special welcome night for incoming Sunday School 3 and 4-year-old students and their parents! 6th Grade Confirmation Retreat—Sept. 21-22 at YMCA Camp Ihduhapi. This is a mandatory retreat for incoming 6th grade confirmation students and guides. Sign up on the Children/Youth board by Aug. 18. Be sure to write down an email address. Cost: $35 (due Sept. 18) which covers Ihduhapi outing, supplies, and Student Book which will be used for all three years of confirmation.

July Sermon Series: Meeting God in the Great Outdoors—When you venture outdoors, you can run into all kinds of things. You could come face to face with a bear, or with God! This July, we’ll explore ways we can encounter God in various places in the great outdoors. July 21 & 31—Fishing; July 24 & 28—Gardening

<55: Under 55 Fellowship Event – Sat., July 27, 12:30-4:30 p.m., for age 25-55.  Join us for an afternoon with ice cream and a Taylors Falls Boat Tour! Meet at Schoony’s Malt Shop at 12:30 for ice cream (384 Bench St., Taylors Falls) and then at 3:00 p.m. walk to the Boat Tour office for an 80 minute boat ride down the St. Croix. Purchase your tickets online.

Retirement Celebration Picnic – Save the date for this celebration of  Pastor Dan’s retirement—Sun., July 28, 11:30 a.m. Come for worship at 8:30 or 10:00 a.m., then stay to express your words of gratitude for the loving, caring ministry that Pastor Dan has shared with us and to wish God’s blessings upon his new life in retirement. Lunch will be served following the 10:00 service; program begins at 11:30 a.m.

Worship with Us at the Chapel

Summer Worship at the Chapel – Wednesdays, through Aug. 28, 6:30 p.m., at the OSLC Chapel in Ham Lake. This year, out at the Chapel, we’re celebrating our joint heritage with Glen Cary Lutheran Church. We began as one worshiping community way back in 1870. We’ll have preachers and special music from Our Saviour’s and Glen Cary at the Chapel as we approach our shared 150th anniversary. Each service is followed by ice cream!

Summer Wednesdays—at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesdays, meet at Acapulco for drinks and chips with the pastors from Glen Cary Church.

Celebration Choir at the Chapel—Wednesday, July 24, 6:30 p.m. Come hear the Celebration Choir sing at the Chapel during worship on the 24th. Join us afterwards for ice cream!

Family Night at the Chapel—Wed., July 31, 5:30-7:00 p.m., come celebrate summer, living in community, and the beauty of nature at Our Saviour’s Chapel. Enjoy face painting, outdoor games, and more! All are welcome! 5:00 p.m. Picnic Dinner (free will donation) bring a chair or blanket. 6:30 p.m. Worship—enjoy a kid friendly worship followed by ice cream.

Community Meal at the Chapel – Wed., June 31, 5:00-6:30 p.m. The Community Meal team will be serving chicken strips, meatballs, cheesy mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, green beans, and assorted ice cream bars. Enjoy a meal and fellowship with your church family.

August Sermon Series: Cinema & the Spirit III God in Children’s MoviesKids’ movies often have themes that could be ripped straight from the pages of the Bible. This August, we’ll look at four popular children’s movies and the messages they share with God’s Word. The Spirit must be on the move! 

Seasoned Adult Ministry (SAM) Trip to St. John’s University—Tues., Aug. 20, 8:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. Travel by bus to St. John’s University in Collegeville for a presentation of the St. John’s Bible. This hand written, illuminated Bible was commissioned by the University and Abby and created by professional scribes in Wales, Great Britain. It is a master piece of the ancient crafts of calligraphy and illumination. (A few years ago there was a special exhibit at the Mpls Institute of Art). The group will also join the monks for noon prayers. An “all you can eat” lunch will follow in the university cafeteria. The cost for lunch, presentation, and bus is $33. Sign up on Small Group Ministry board by the Reception Desk. Minimum participants needed, 20 or trip will be cancelled. This is not a tour.

Our Saviours’ Got Talent! A Morning of Shining Stars—Sun., Sept. 8, 11:30 a.m. OSLC talent scouts are looking for talents of all kinds and performers of all ages. Do you sing, dance, juggle, draw, mime, act, model? Do magic, acrobatics, ventriloquism?  There will be an Arts/Crafts Exhibition along with the stage show. If your talent runs in this vein, consider showing your artwork, quilt, photos, pottery, jewelry… Sign up on the Kiosk in the Rotunda by Aug. 18. The Preacher’s Daughters Concert and Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

Tuesday, August 13, Dinner 4:30-6:30 p.m., at Our Saviour’s; Concert 6:30 p.m. Proceeds will go toward OSLC Chapel Foundation Restoration. The Preacher’s Daughters—Amanda Ellison & Korissa Olson—share a rich heritage in the great hymns of the faith and gospel music. “They will fill your hearts and uplift your spirits with laughter, the great hymns of the faith, powerhouse vocals, and rich stories!” No tickets necessary—a freewill offering will be taken. The Our Saviour’s Chapel, established as the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ham Lake in 1872—is the only Anoka County church on the National Register of Historic Places. The well preserved church represents the Swedish American heritage of Anoka County’s largest immigrant settlement.

Themed Baskets Needed for Silent Auction – Please consider donating a basket for the silent auction which will be held on Tuesday, August 13, in conjunction with the Preacher’s Daughters concert. All proceeds will go towards the OSLC Chapel Foundation Restoration.

Take a Walk in the Garden—Take a walk through Our Saviour’s Meditation Garden, on the south side of the church, and experience the extraordinary work done by Our Saviour’s garden team. Thank you Garden Team for your dedication to this beautifying work!

MN Twins games hosted by Thrivent Financial – Monday, August 5.  Bus will leave Glen Cary Lutheran at 4:30 pm, stopping to pack school supplies on the way down.  Bring  supplies to donate.  Reserved seating tickets cost $30 each, which includes a $10 food voucher. Preschool Teacher: Part-time—A position is currently available for a part-time teacher for Our Saviour’s Preschool, to begin in the fall. Job summary: Instruct children in activities designed to promote faith, social, physical, and mental growth while providing a safe and nurturing environment. You Can Help

Casas por Cristo Mission Trip—Plans  are underway to build a home in Dominican Republic after Christmas.  This is a powerful experience and a great opportunity to help those less fortunate.  We will work with a local guide and pastor to build an entire home in 3-4 days.  No building experience necessary.  If you are interested in learning more, please contact Jason or Karen Moehring at 763-413-1780.

Random Tuesday Weeding—Get your fingers dirty any Tuesday through September, helping with garden weeding. The group starts around 6:00 p.m. and works for about an hour, weather permitting. Many hands make light work!

Raising Up Disciples—Sow the seeds of discipleship by being a Sunday school teacher! Infants and Toddlers

Nursery is provided at the 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. services for children 3 and under, though it is strongly encouraged that children and their parents worship together. The nursery is staffed by caring adults and youth.
