Happening Today

Heart Safe CPR—May 19, following 10:00 a.m. worship service, at Our Saviour’s. Join members of Our Saviour’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and take this class with them. There is no cost for this class and is being put on by the East Bethel Fire Department.


Happening This Week

Descendants of Abraham Bible Study—Monday, May 20, 9:30- 11:30 a.m. This Bible study continues with the stories of the descendants of Abraham. The group will be discussing Exodus 20 and 23:20-25:8. Plan to join the study for the last in this year’s series on Mon., June 3. The group will be reading through the Seder dinner.

Pub Theology—Mondy, May 20, 6:00 p.m., at Hidden Haven. This discussion is for Christians of any stripe: people who’ve been burned or burned out on church, those who believe in God, or don’t. Come and have a beer/beverage of choice and join in the lively discussion.

Mixed Golf League Tuesdays at Hidden Haven—Tee times begin at 5:30 p.m. ALL skill levels are welcome to join. Sign up on the Small Group board if you plan to attend. Questions? Contact Ben Bjornson, 612-802-6282, or benhrt591@live.com.

Quilting Blocks in Stages—Tuesday, May 21, 6:30 p.m. This group meets the first and the third Tuesdays. Join the group to work on mission quilts donated to places such as NACE Food Shelf, Alexandra House, and more.

Little Dresses for Africa –Thurs., May 23, 9:00 a.m., at Glen Cary. Join this partnership group to sew for mission. A schedule is available at the Small Group board in the Rotunda. Bring your sewing machine, a pair of scissors, and a bag lunch. Questions? Contact Betty Gabrick, 651-462-1573.

Dinner’s at 6:30—Fri., May 24, at Running Aces, 15201 Zurich St., Columbus. Join this fun group for dinner and fellowship! Bring a friend. Be sure to sign up on the Small Group board. Questions? Contact Sandy Mickelson, 763-767-1765.


Preschool

Preschool Registration—OSLC Preschool Registration has begun for the 2019-20 school year. Our Saviour’s 4-Star Christian Preschool program offers children a quality Christian education in a secure, nurturing environment. Brochures and registration forms are available by the Children/Youth board or at oursaviourslc.org.

Preschool Summer Camp—August 12-15, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., for age 3-5. Join Our Saviour’s Preschool as we dive into the world of Pete the Cat! Each day will be filled with stories, art activities, and games based on a different book by James Dean. Cost is  $55. Registration form is available online at oursaviourslc.org/forms.


Children/Youth/Family

Wednesday night programming changes for 2019-2020—Please see the Children & Youth Board, Our Saviour’s Website and/or the Reception Desk to see a copy of the letter explaining the programming changes being implemented this coming fall.

Valleyfair Youth Trip—Wed., Aug. 7, 9:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m., for grades 5 through 2-year post-grad. The first 12 to sign up will get a spot for sure. Cost: $50—non-refundable ($15 for transportation, if you have a season pass). Payment due no later than June 1 (checks made out to “OSLC” with “Valleyfair – [youth name]” on memo line and placed in the “Youth” box behind the Reception Desk.  If you are signed up in one of the first 12 spots and you do not pay by the deadline, we will assume that you do not wish to go and your spot will go to the first person on the wait list.


Join us in worship For…

Founders’ Day Worship –Sun., May 26, 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel (2200 Swedish Dr., Ham Lake); 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. at OSLC on Jackson St. We rejoice in our heritage and celebrate the pioneers who began this congregation in 1872.  Worship in Our Saviour’s original building using liturgy and hymns from the green Lutheran Book of Worship, accompanied by the original pump organ. Refreshments are served between services, and a display of historical church memorabilia is there for you to enjoy. Or, you are invited to worship at our Jackson Street site in contemporary style.

Help for Founders’ Day Worship—Sunday, May 26, 8:30 and 10:00 a.m., at the Chapel. You are invited to bring bars/cookies and help serve at the Chapel, 2200 Swedish Dr., Ham Lake.

The Kempters in Worship—Sun., June 2, 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. The musical group, The Kempters, are once again including us as a stop on their tour through the Midwest! They’ll share their music in worship, and following worship we’ll have a potluck. At 11:30 a.m. The Kempters will be performing a concert. This talented family has been sharing their Vintage Gospel style music around the country for years. Check them out at thekempters.com.

Big Band Worship—Sunday, June 23, 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. Join us in worship on the 23rd to hear the Brooklyn United Methodist Big Band! This 18-piece band was founded in 2006 by Music Director Michael Anderson and North Hennepin Community College Jazz Ensemble Director David Mantini. They play jazz arrangements of Christian hymns, as well as classic, standard, and modern jazz tunes. Come experience worship in a different, yet fun way!

Outdoor Bluegrass Worship—Sun., June 30, 10:00 a.m. Are you ready for more Bluegrass fun? Join us for a special outdoor Bluegrass service featuring the Cornerstone Band! This service will include a Blessing of the Animals, so bring your lawn chairs, sun hats, sun screen, pets, and pet waste bags. Get ready to dance and sing to your favorite old-time gospel hymns.

Cambia Hills Job Fair—Thursday, May 30, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Cambia Hills will be opening Minnesota’s first purpose-built psychiatric residential treatment facility in East Bethel in early 2020. The facility will provide a range of comprehensive services to treat the psychiatric conditions of youth on an inpatient basis, under the direction of a physician. The Job Fair for Cambia Hills will be at Our Saviour’s Church. The project will employ approximately 150 people. Please join us and learn about: mission and vision; project timeline; available positions and qualifications.

Bead Ministry—Thurs., May 30, 7:00 p.m. Join this group for beading and fellowship in Pastor Maria’s office. Beaders of all abilities welcome! Contact: Karen Bush, bushfamily4@q.com.

Summer Worship at the Chapel—Wed., June 5, at 6:30 p.m., summer worship will begin at the OSLC Chapel in Ham Lake, and continue through Aug. 28. This year, out at the Chapel, we’re celebrating our joint heritage with Glen Cary Lutheran Church. We began as one worshiping community way back in 1870. We’ll have preachers and special music from Our Saviour’s and Glen Cary at the Chapel as we approach our shared 150th anniversary. Each service is followed by ice cream!

Meals at the Chapel! The Community Meal team will be serving a meal at the Chapel on the last Wednesdays of June, July, and August, from 5:00-6:30 pm. Enjoy a meal and fellowship with your church family.

Summer Chapel Hospitality—You are invited to bring and serve ice cream following worship on a Wednesday this summer. Please sign up on the Worship Ministry board across from the Reception Desk.

New Member Orientation—Sun., June 9 and 23, 11:15 a.m.-1:15 p.m. You are invited to join Our Saviour’s family. This two-part class is offered at Our Saviour’s church; lunch will be provided. Please sign up on the Small Group board in the Rotunda if you plan to attend.


Seasoned Adult Ministry (SAM)

Guys & Dolls at the Guthrie—Wed., July 31, 9:45 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Join the SAM group for a trip to the Guthrie to see Guys and Dolls. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. Cost: $44 (bus and non-refundable ticket) + lunch on your own. Sign-up on Small Group board by the Reception Desk. Please pay when you sign-up. Deadline to sign up is June 16.  

SAM Trip to Camp Wapo—Thurs., June 27, 7:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Camp Wapo in Amery, Wisconsin has invited the SAM group to be their guests for a day. The visit will include chapel, noon lunch, pontoon boat rides, and seeing Our Saviour’s campers. Cost: $23 for a coach bus (not a school bus). Sign up on the Small Group board and pay by June 20.

Our Saviour’s Columbarium –“Comfort, O Comfort My People Says Your God.” (Isaiah 40:1) The Columbarium needs your financial  help to continue with finishing Phase 1. Ways your support can help: purchase pavers for the pathway, benches, lighting, shrubs, or irrigation. Infants and Toddlers

Nursery is provided at the 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. services for children 3 and under, though it is strongly encouraged that children and their parents worship together. The nursery is staffed by caring adults and youth.
