YouthWorks
Middle/High School Mission Trip to Lake Traverse Reservation in Sisseton, SD

July 7-12, 2019, for youth who have completed grades 6-12 in the spring of 2019
Informational meeting Sun., Sept. 30, 11:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m., in Youth Room

This mission trip, lead by YouthWorks, will be at Lake Traverse Reservation, approximately a 3.5 hour drive from East Bethel. One of the most unique partnerships YouthWorks is developing in Lake Traverse is with the old middle school in the middle of town, which is being converted into a community education and activity center. We will help facilitate children’s programming at this center, serve the residents in local assisted living facilities/nursing homes and help out with other work projects in the community. We’ll learn about Dakota culture from a community friend, explore a state park that is spiritually significant to the local tribe, and join the community for a cookout. YouthWorks has partnered with this community since 2005.

Cost: $500/person, all-inclusive (cost includes all meals, project materials and resources, program resources, evening activities, lodging, YouthWorks staffing) Talk to Leisha Tays about scholarship possibilities from YouthWorks. Fundraising opportunities will be made available.
