Mission Trip 2020 to Charleston, West Virginia

Sunday, July 12 through Friday, July 17; for youth in grades 6 and up (2019-2020)

Support under-staffed social service organizations meeting the needs of families in urban Appalachia. During a week in Charleston, our group will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the people, history and culture of this city. Serve and build relationships with a variety of people in Charleston through the Boys & Girls Club, Union Mission, Covenant House and local senior centers. During the evenings, worship with a local congregation and feast with friends old and new at a community potluck, which almost always includes a famous homemade cobbler! YouthWorks has partnered with this community since 2003.

Transportation: Flight to Charleston, 12-passenger vans from there.
How Many: We have 4 spots for adults (21+) and 20 spots for youth. We will be joining up to 46 other youth from other churches.
Cost: Total cost is approximately $900… however… we will be asking $750 from each participant. This cost is a conservative estimate. In working with a travel agent once we have our numbers secured, the cost may go down but that is not guaranteed. Please note that there will be plenty of opportunities for each participant to earn CYF Credits to help pay for the trip.

Youth Sign up: To sign up, fill out the Mission Trip Youth Signup (click for link) and turn it in by August 31, 2019.

Adults: If you are 21 or older and interested in the 2020 Mission Trip, contact Leisha Tays, Leisha will then contact adults as needed. The three other adults who attend will have their cost covered but will be asked to help with all fundraising with the group. All adults must have a national background check cleared in order to participate.
