TODAY IS THE DEADLINE TO SIGN UP AND TURN IN $50 DEPOSIT: Middle/High School Mission Trip to Lake Traverse Reservation in Sisseton, SD—July 7-12, 2019, for youth having completed grades 6-12 in spring 2019. This mission trip, lead by YouthWorks, will be on Lake Traverse Reservation, approximately a 3.5 hour drive from East Bethel. We will help facilitate children’s programming at the community education/activity center, serve the residents in local assisted living facilities/nursing homes and help out with other work projects in the community. Happening This Week
Pub Theology at Hidden Haven—Mon., Oct. 15, 6:00 p.m. This discussion is for Christians of any stripe: people who’ve been burned or burned out on church, those who believe in God, or don’t. Come and have a beer/beverage of choice and join in the lively discussion.
Descendants of Abraham—Old Testament Bible Study Mon., Oct. 15, 9:30-11:30 a.m. (first and third Mondays). This Bible study will continue with the stories of the descendants of Abraham. We'll begin with Genesis 32 and 33. These are fascinating stories about complicated characters, and we'll have fun exploring their lives!
Quilting Blocks in Stages—Tues., Oct. 16, 9:00 a.m. This group meets the first Sat. of the month, 9:00 a.m.-noon, as well as the third Tues., 6:30-9:00 p.m. Join the group to work on mission quilts donated to places such as Habitat for Humanity, NACE Food Shelf, Alexandra House, and more.
Thursday Morning Quilters—Thurs., Oct. 18, at 9:00 a.m. This group meets the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month. Please join the group in making quilts for mission. Training is provided!
Frolic: Child/Caregiver Play Group Little Steps. Big Faith.—Fri., Oct. 19, 9:30-11:00 a.m. Frolic will be frolicing at Springbrook Nature Center. Have 10/19 off with your child for MEA? Join the Frolic families at Springbrook. Meet inside at 9:30 for some inside nature play and venture out around 10:00 for nature play and walk. Be sure to dress for the weather and pack a stroller if needed. Plan to go rain or shine. Older siblings WELCOME! Don't know much about Springbrook? 2018-19 Preschool Registration—Our Saviour’s 4-Star Christian Preschool program offers children a quality Christian education in a secure, nurturing environment. Brochures and registration forms are available by the Children/Youth board or at oursaviourslc.org.
High School Lock-in—Sat., Nov. 17, 7:00 p.m. through Sun., Nov. 18, 11:00 a.m., for grades 9-12. Come for lock-in fun: games, snacks, pizza, worship, youth room brainstorming, and more! Bring: sleeping stuff (air mattress, sleeping bag, pillow, etc), hygiene products, clothes for worship Sunday morning, snack, and a 2-liter of soda/juice to share. The cost is $10 to contribute to pizza and supplies. Participants must have a permission form on file. Deadline to sign up on the Children/Youth board is Wed., Nov. 14.
Trunk n’ Treat Community Event—Sun., Oct. 28, 3:30-5:00 p.m. Whatever your age, you are invited to come and have fun. Wear your favorite Halloween costume and trick or treat through the parking lot from trunk to trunk. Cost: $2.00 (goes towards Children’s Ministry program) plus a nonperishable food donation (for NACE Food Shelf). Hot dog, chips, and pop will be available for $3 (proceeds go towards the Middle/High School Mission Trip).
Trunk n’ Treat Volunteers—Your help is needed on Oct. 28. Consider signing up to:
- be an adult volunteer from 3-5 p.m.
- be a youth volunteer from 3-5 p.m.
- bring a trunk filled with treats to hand out to the tricksters 3-5 p.m. (arrive no later than 3:00)

Communion Instruction Class—Sat., Nov. 10, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. As your child gets older, has been communing or is choosing to wait to commune, and is able to enter into conversation more deeply, take advantage of the Communion Instruction Class. This interactive class is open to any age, including adults. Parents/guardians please plan to attend the class with your child. Register online at oursaviourslc.org/forms.

Oct. 17 MEA - NO IGNITE, NO PROGRAMS, NO DINNER
Join Your Church Family for a Community Meal—Wednesdays, 4:30-6:25 p.m. All are welcome to enjoy dinner with your church family! The cost is $4 per person and punch cards are available for purchase. Menu: Oct. 24—Chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, and salad.
Meet and Greet Potluck Meal for Somali Family—Sun., Oct. 21, following the 10:00 a.m. worship service. You are invited to help us honor the Somali family we have been helping. This is a family of young men who live in St. Cloud. Thanks to generous donations, we’ve been able to provide housing support for this family. This family is Muslim, so we need to avoid dishes containing alcohol, pork, or gelatin products.
Bead Ministry—Thurs., Oct. 25, 7:00 p.m., the group will be meeting offsite. Join this fun group in making beaded items for ministry. Beaders of all abilities welcome! Contact: Karen Bush, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Little Dresses for Africa—Thurs., October 25, at OSLC, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., at Our Saviour’s. Join this partnership group to sew for mission. The Dinner’s at 6:30 group is looking for a new coordinator. Mike has been coordinator for 5 years and will be stepping down after this outing.
Special Reformation Celebration Worship - Sat., Oct. 27, 6:30 p.m. Special guest Mary Helene Rasmussen Jackson will share Things You Don’t Know About the Reformation, including people you may not have heard of who were instrumental in the Reformation taking place. Our music staff is preparing wonderful music, including organ and choir. Holy Communion rounds out this festive worship service. Ms. Jackson is the author of Daughter of the Reformation: A Historical Perspective of the Life and Times of the Wife of Martin Luther, and has done first person presentations here as Katie Luther. This year we’ll get to hear things Katie wouldn’t have been privy to! There will be time for Q&A after worship. Invite your friends and neighbors!
Confirmation/Affirmation of Baptism—Sun., Oct. 28 at 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. Be in worship to celebrate with 41 of our young people who will affirm their Baptism in the rite of Confirmation. When they were baptized, we promised to nurture them in the faith. By holding this event during our regularly scheduled Sunday worship services, we all get to celebrate with them as they pledge to continue on this path. Both services will feature the contemporary music and beautiful traditions that have been part of AOB at Our Saviour’s for years.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE OPEN HOUSE—Some of you know that Jim Nelson has terminal cancer and has a few months life expectancy. There will be a Celebration of Life Open House at Our Saviour’s Church on Friday, Oct. 26, 4:00–6:00 p.m. Please join Jim and Donna for a time of reminiscing and sharing. Light refreshments will be served.

Items are needed in advance, so inventory can be taken and additional needed items can be purchased prior to package assembly. A list of items needed is available on the Kiosk in the Rotunda.

Collection for Turkey Baskets—October 21-November 7. For Thanksgiving, Our Saviour’s Confirmation Youth will be assembling Turkey Baskets for North Anoka County Emergency (NACE) Food Shelf. Our goal is to assemble 20 complete baskets to provide Thanksgiving meals for families in need. Can you help by contributing one or more of the needed items? A list is available on the Kiosk in the Rotunda. Please drop items off in front of the Children/Youth board in the Rotunda.
