Happening Today

Sunday School Program—TODAY at 8:30 and
10:00 a.m., and Wed., Dec., 12, 6:30 p.m. The OSLC Kids will bring to life what it means to be a part of God’s family tree and the importance of sharing His love with others.

Sunday School Basket Auction—Bidding is open through 11:30 a.m. today. Winners will be announced shortly after 11:30 a.m.

Blood Pressure Clinic Between Services—Look for the table in the Gathering Space.

Light a candle tonight at 7:00 p.m. and let it burn for an hour in memory of loved ones who will not be with us this Christmas. You will be part of a worldwide event where candles are lit around the globe, at 7:00 p.m. in every time zone. Created in 1979 by The Compassionate Friends, a bereavement support organization, this has grown to be the largest candle event in the world. Pray for others and for your own needs, and join with many thousands of others bathed in the light of candles.

SAM Potluck—Mon., Dec. 10, 12:00 p.m. Join your friends for the annual Christmas potluck lunch and the dice in the pie plate game. Bring your favorite dish to share and something for the white elephant dice game. Sign-up on the Small Group Ministry board.

Men’s Group—Mon., Dec. 10, 6:30-8:00 p.m. TAKE NOTE: This group has moved to the SECOND Monday of each month. Men, join us for an evening of fellowship in the spirit of Christian male-bonding. Fiction Addiction Book Group—Tues., Dec. 11, 6:30 p.m. The group will be choosing books for the 2019 reading year. Meet at Lisa Bigelbach’s home: 3230 195th Ave. NW, Oak Grove. It's open to you, your friends, and neighbors -- no need to be a member of OSLC.

A Celebration of Christmas - Fri., Dec. 14, 7:00 p.m., at Our Saviour’s. Featuring performances by: Cornerstone Band, Orchestra, Celebration Choir, and various soloists. Enjoy Christmas caroling, cookies, and hot cider 20 minutes before the concert. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. General Seating: advance tickets available now in the church office or online at Early Bird—Adults $8 ($10 at the door); Youth ages 6-11 $5; Kids 5 and under free.


Feed My Starving Children Event: Confirmation Hosted Service Night—Thurs, Jan. 17, 2019, 6:00-7:30 p.m., for ages 5 to 110! At Feed My Starving Children you’ll hand-pack rice, soy, dried vegetables, and a nutritionally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags which are then sealed, boxed, placed on pallets, and shipped to our incredible partners working hard to reach the neediest children around the world. In two hours you’ll impact hundreds of kids! Kids need to be at least 5-years-old to participate (with a parent) and at least 6th grade to participate (without a parent). This is a great way to volunteer as a family! Registration is open to all. Sign up on the Children/Youth board, 1 person per line, by January 10.

Quake for Grades 6-12—Feb 15-17, Hilton Mpls, 3900 American Blvd W., Bloomington. This will be a weekend gathering exploring faith, Christian living, a life of ministry, and leadership… through speakers, music, breakout sessions, and so much more amazingness! Seasoned Adult Ministry (SAM) Events - Events open to all—members and friends!

SAM Theater Event - Church Basement Ladies in You Smell Barn—Tues., Feb. 5. We will travel by bus to the Mediterranean Cruise Café in Burnsville for lunch and then to the Ames Center for the show. The cost is $42 ($16 for bus + $25.50 for play) plus your lunch. The lunch buffet is $13.99, or you can order off the menu. Sign up on the Small Group Ministry board by Jan. 2. 12:30 p.m.—Band-led, contemporary worship with carols and children’s message

9:00 p.m.—Candlelight worship

Christmas Day Worship Dec. 25—8:30 a.m. at the Chapel in Ham Lake. The chapel worship is a traditional Christmas morning service with Holy Communion. Maps to the chapel are available in the rack across from the Reception Desk.

Christmas Poinsettia or Gift Order Form—During the Christmas season Our Saviour’s Worship Space is graced with beautiful poinsettias. If you would like to donate a plant or make a donation in honor or in memory of a loved one, please complete an order form and return it to the church office no later than Sun., Dec. 23. The cost is $12.50 per plant. Forms are available at the Reception Desk.

The Gathering at Linwood Covenant Church—2nd and 4th Mondays, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. This collaboration with The Family Caregiver Connection is an out-of-home group respite program for caregivers and care receivers and offers companion care, friendship, exercise, and activities. Must Go Produce—North Anoka County Emergency (NACE) Food Shelf is open additional hours, encouraging all of the community to partake in the remaining bountiful produce prior to the weekend. On Thursdays (except the 3rd Thurs.), all produce needs to be distributed before NACE closes for the weekend and will be open to everyone 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Coming Home by Way of the Aramaic Lord’s Prayer, with Pastor Tim Tengblad On Sun., Jan. 13, 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. Pastor Tengblad will speak on the Aramaic Lord's Prayer. Jesus taught the Lord’s Prayer in the Aramaic language. Find out how the meaning differs from what we know. Worship will be followed by a potluck with an additional hour of learning around this prayer. He'll continue this teaching on Wednesdays, Jan. 16 and 23, at 5:30 p.m. This same teaching will be repeated at the Adult Bible study on Mon., Jan. 21.

Women’s Retreat: Laughter Is the Best Medicine—Sat., March 2, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Women of all ages, mark your calendars for a day away just for you. Our speaker is Jean Abbott, a young mom of three kids who has appeared on the TODAY Show sharing her inspirational story, which she’s chronicled in her book Misdiagnosed: My Thirty-Year Struggle with a Debilitating Disorder I Never Had. Meet Jean today in the Gathering Space. She is down-to-earth and funny – we are thrilled to have her with us! Cost: $30 early bird special through Feb. 2; after Feb. 2—$35. Nursery is provided at the 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. services for children 3 and under, though it is strongly encouraged that children and their parents worship together. The nursery is staffed by caring adults and youth.
